Program notes:
Groovid is a title that results from the junction of two words. “Groove” from the constant rhythmic pattern present in the work, and “covid” the word that is associated with the moment the piece was written, in the middle of a pandemic in 2020. The piece has a constant alternation between the bars 7/8 and 5/ 8 keeping an ostentatious presence throughout the work. In certain sections these two measures appear simultaneously with different subdivisions giving rise to different polyrhythms.
